Doc Root URL Customization

The Doc Root URL feature in EazyDocs enables you to customize the structure of your documentation URLs, thereby maintaining consistent branding and enhancing the overall user experience.

Understanding Doc Root URLs

Doc Root URLs define the base path through which users access your documentation on your website.

By default, EazyDocs uses the /docs/ slug as a prefix before the document name. For example, a document titled Getting Started would be accessible at:

yourwebsite.com/docs/getting-started

Doc Root URL Format Option

EazyDocs provides more control over your Doc Root URLs with the new format option. This feature allows you to:

  • Select a Custom Slug: You can replace the default /docs/ slug with a term that better reflects your website’s branding or organizational structure. For instance, you might use /knowledge-base/ or /guides/ instead.
  • Remove the Slug Entirely: For an even cleaner URL structure, you can remove the slug entirely. In this case, a document titled Getting Started would be accessible at:

    yourwebsite.com/getting-started

Benefits of Customization

Customizing your Doc Root URL format offers several advantages:

  • Enhanced Branding: Align your documentation URLs with your website’s overall branding for a more cohesive user experience.
  • Improved User Experience: Clear and descriptive URLs can make it easier for users to navigate and find the information they need.
  • SEO Potential: While not a direct SEO ranking factor, user-friendly URLs can contribute to a positive user experience, which can indirectly impact SEO.

Implementing Doc Root URL Customization

The Doc Root URL format option can be configured within the EazyDocs plugin settings. Here’s a general guideline:

  • Navigate to your WordPress dashboard.
  • Access the EazyDocs settings by going to EazyDocs > Settings.
  • Click on Doc General from the available options.
  • Locate the Doc Root slug option.
  • Select your preferred format (with or without a custom slug).
  • Save your changes.

By leveraging the Doc Root URL format option, you can personalize your documentation URLs and create a more user-friendly and brand-consistent experience for your audience.
